OWL PLATE 2007

Friday 26th October 2007 Fowler’s Group held their Annual Charity Lawn Bowls Night at Stratford Lawn Bowls Club.

Competing for the “Owl Plate” were four teams from Pacific Toyota, Northern Insurance & Finance Brokers, Cairns Marine Aquarium Fish, Norweld Engineering, Reid Motors, and Kennedy’s Electrical.

The night was a huge success with the Owl Plate being won by Pacific Toyota as well as taking out the Best Dressed.

This year all funds raised were donated to COUCH – caring for people affected by cancer. This charity has been established to raise funds so Cairns Hospital will be able to have it’s own oncology unit and the people of Cairns will no longer have to travel away from home for treatment.

We managed to raise a total of $4,000 which was gratefully accepted by COUCH.

Fowler's Group Primary School Netball Carnival 2007

Freshwater Sate School took out the Fowler's Group Primary School Netball Carnival played at the Cairns Netball Complex on Sunday 29th July 2007.
Freshwater will now represent Peninsula Region and play winner of Northern region based in Townsville for the right to travel to Brisbane State Finals.

Fowler's Group Vicki Wilson Cup

On Friday 3rd August 2007 Smithfield State High's netball team survived a thrilling extra time final against Trinity Anglican School to secure the Fowler's Group Vicki Wilson Cup.

In an epic decider, the match was taken to two periods of extra time before Smithfield emerged victorious 22-20.

Chook Cup 2007

Friday night the 11th May 2007 all the team at Fowler's Group held their annual Charity Tennis Night to raise funds for the Far North Queensland Hospital Foundation. Competing for the Chook Cup were Reid Motors, Farrelly’s Lawyers, CCW Cabinet Works, Carins Marine Aquarium Fish, Pacific Toyota, Hepworth Jewellers, Northern Insurance and Finance Brokers, Norweld Engineering and Fowler’s Group. The night was a bit wet but all teams managed to get through with the final show down between Reid Motors and Hepworth Jewellers. Victorious for a second year running were the team of Reid Motors. CCW Cabinet Works took out the popular contest of best dressed team on the night.

Lots of tickets were sold for the popular Owl Cup Raffle where prizes are donated every year by our wonderful sponsors. Yet again we managed to exceed our target and raised $5,000 for the Far North Queensland Hospital Foundation. In total we have now donated $12,500 to the foundation over the past 2 years.

Later in the year the next event will be our Lawn Bowls Charity Night at Stratford Bowls Club. Hopefully we can yet again raise more funds towards helping a special cause.
