I took out Income Protection Insurance in March 2007 as part of my financial planning arrangements with Fowler’s Group. Fowler’s Group recommended that Income Protection was an important part of my overall wealth accumulation and protection strategy and also ensured that I would be able to meet all of my commitments to the home loan that I had recently taken out.

I am employed as a Mine Operator and in the past it has been very difficult for miners to receive Income Protection cover. However, Fowler’s Group were able to talk to a range of insurance companies and were able to provide me with a comprehensive Income Protection policy with a 30 day waiting period and a benefit period through to Age 65.

In January 2008 I fractured a bone in my shoulder whilst riding a trail bike on the weekend. This injury meant that I had to have at least 1 month off work and I incurred various medical bills. Due to the comprehensive nature of the policy that Fowler’s Group were able to provide to me I actually received 2 months benefit in advance upon claim. This helped me greatly in covering my medical expenses while I was off work and the associated medical costs that I had an I was able to recover from my injury without any financial stress.
