The New Year is with us so what have we planned?
Resolutions – what a waste unless we write them down and pass them on to a friend to track their progress, nag, nag, nag. Better to stay friends and forget the resolutions.
What are my plans?
- Take down the Christmas decorations. A giant ask, but so was putting up the decorations. A Christmas tree that sags under the weight and number of baubles and trinkets and lights and the ancient Angel purchased precariously atop. Return the lighted houses, churches, ski slopes, and carousels to their Styrofoam homes. Remove and store the AA and AAA batteries for future use. Remove the solar lights that adorn the pool area, decks, and garage, together with the outside solar Christmas tree and various solar attractions in the gardens and pot plants. Not that I’m complaining — much, BUT in only 11 months, we’re at it again.
- Time off at Peregian Beach to relax with surfing and the sun and catch up with our southern families, our kids, and their kids — a grand time.
- A trip to Melbourne to the Australian Open Men’s final with a couple of our oldest and best mates, no doubt including visiting one or two of the many fine restaurants the city provides.
- Set the dates and agendas for the quarterly business planning meetings (Profit Maker Pathway) That I host for us and a select number of our business clients. They are for one full day every 90 days, and the planning decisions made (resolutions) are reviewed each quarter. We follow Pearson’s Law. “When performance is measured, performance improves. When performance is measured and reported back, the rate of improvement accelerates.”
- Meditate each day for 10 to 15 minutes. I have been doing this since July this year after listening to a presentation by Dr Adam Fraser.
He suggested:
(a) Meditation daily calms your brain
(b) Weekly, do something that energises you … a hobby, a passion, connect with others.
(c) Monthly…. A day of NO responsibility.
Have no agenda.
Have nothing to do,
Do whatever you feel like.
It’s a day of freedom and expresses permission to be unproductive.
That’s it for my planning I’ll check back in 12 months to see how I went.
