The Challenge of Change

Now that I have passed my 77th year, I find myself reflecting on the way a heap of things have changed and yet there is plenty that stayed the same.

Technology is undoubtedly the largest and swiftest changer. My first work computer was an IBM XT with 20mb memory that “would last forever”. My iPhone is 100 times smaller and 256gb. Work files are stored in “The Cloud”.

Caring about and keeping in touch with our friends and clients will always stay the same. That’s why we’ve stayed in business for 50 years.

Legislation around Superannuation has been amended with regularity adding confusion and scepticism to the working population.

However, the need to plan and save for retirement remains a constant as the population ages and longevity increases.

Communication via Social Media text messages and email with no personal contact and often little thought to the unintended consequences of the immediate release of a brain explosion.

Face to Face meetings allowing you to experience the feelings, interaction and responses to matters discussed. People communicating with words and actions not hurried thoughts and photos.

Change is inevitable, and while it brings challenges the improvements in business and lifestyle are the just reward.

What should never change is personal interaction and paying attention and listening to people. Feeling empathy, caring, nurturing and to “love the neighbour”.

Stay Healthy, Stay Calm, Stay Focussed.
